Roofing in Fort Myers

Fort Myers has some of the widest range of roofs in Southwest Florida. Older homes near McGregor Boulevard and the Caloosahatchee River sit a few miles from mid-century ranch neighborhoods and newer master-planned communities east of I-75. That means one week we are repairing flashing on a decades-old shingle roof and the next we are replacing underlayment on a concrete tile roof in a gated community.

Hurricane Ian made landfall in Lee County in September 2022, and many Fort Myers homes still have roofs that were patched in a hurry rather than properly repaired. If yours was repaired right after the storm, a free inspection will tell you whether the work is holding up.

Roof replacement in Fort Myers

A Fort Myers re-roof starts with the permit. Homes inside city limits are permitted through the City of Fort Myers, while homes in unincorporated Fort Myers-area neighborhoods go through Lee County. We pull the right permit for your address, tear the old roof off down to the deck, replace damaged decking and install new underlayment, flashing and roofing to the current Florida Building Code.

Roof repair in Fort Myers

Summer thunderstorms, wind-driven rain and storm season find every weak spot in a roof. The most common Fort Myers leaks we see start at pipe boots, wall and valley flashing, lifted shingles and cracked tiles. We trace the leak to its real source and repair it so it lasts, and we tell you honestly if the rest of the roof is close to needing replacement.

Shingle, tile, metal and flat roofs

Architectural shingles remain the most common choice for budget-conscious Fort Myers homeowners. Concrete tile is standard in many newer communities and HOAs. Metal roofs are increasingly popular for their light weight and heat reflection, and modern homes and lanais often include flat roof sections. We work on all four.

Fort Myers FAQs

Roofing questions from Fort Myers homeowners.

Do I need a permit for a roof replacement in Fort Myers?

Yes. Homes inside the City of Fort Myers are permitted through the city, and homes in unincorporated Fort Myers-area neighborhoods are permitted through Lee County. We pull the permit and schedule the required inspections.

How quickly can you inspect my roof in Fort Myers?

Fort Myers is our home base, so it is the area we reach most easily. Call (239) 503-0609 to schedule a free inspection.

Will my insurance company make me replace my roof because of its age?

Florida law limits this. Under section 627.7011, Florida Statutes, an insurer may not refuse to issue or renew a homeowner's policy solely because of the age of a roof that is less than 15 years old. For a roof that is at least 15 years old, the insurer must let you have the roof inspected by an authorized inspector before requiring replacement, and it may not refuse coverage solely because of age if the inspection shows at least five years of useful life remaining. Your insurer and agent have the final word on your specific policy.
